The Flying Cross Church was founded in Waterford, Wisconsin, out of a profound love for God and passion for aviation. We are focused on restoration in a spiritual as well as mechanical manner. Join us as we restore and rebuild an authentic 1943 Taylorcraft L2M liaison aircraft serving as a living metaphor for God’s ability to take broken, weathered lives and restore them for a higher purpose. We invite you to take this journey with us as we turn wrenches, study Scripture, and watch faith take flight.
Meet the Pastor
My name is Bren Nimke and I am blessed to be the Pastor of Flying Cross Church. My faith is the foundation of my life and I love sharing my faith and love for God with others. I have been blessed with two beautiful daughters and enjoy being a Dad.
I have a Master of Arts degree in Theology from The University of Notre Dame and a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. For the past six years I have served as a Fire Chaplain ministering to Firefighters, Paramedics, EMTs and Law Enforcement.
Prior to answering God's call to the ministry I answered the country's call to service following the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. I served as a Sniper in the United States Army with the First Infantry Division.
I have always had a passion for aviation and military aircraft ever since I was a child. Growing up in Oshkosh, WI my family and I attended the EAA airshow every year, a tradition that I have continued into adulthood with my daughters. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to own a World War II warbird and that dream came true this year when I was blessed with the opportunity to purchase a 1943 Taylorcraft L2M liaison aircraft in need or repair and restoration. As I began the project I found God speaking to me through the restoration. It is here that our journey begins.
